FAQ

PopGrinder uses an AI-powered pricing engine that collects sold and listed market data from multiple marketplaces and processes it through a multi-step pipeline to produce a single estimated value for each item.

How it works:
1. Smart data selection — The system prioritizes actual sold prices over asking prices. It searches recent sales first (last 30 days), and only widens the window or falls back to listed prices when sold data is scarce.
2. AI-powered filtering — Our models detect and remove outlier prices so they don't skew the result. Listings for damaged, autographed, digital, and multi-pack items are automatically filtered out. The models can also identify the correct variant of a Funko (e.g., common vs. Chase, exclusive vs. standard) to ensure the estimate reflects the right item. We've invested heavily in training these models and continue to refine them to improve accuracy over time.
3. Recency weighting — Recent transactions count more than older ones. A sale from yesterday matters more than one from three months ago.
4. Cluster analysis — The engine identifies the core price cluster and discards prices that belong to a different variant (e.g., a Chase vs. a common).
5. Final calculation — A weighted average of the surviving cluster is rounded to the nearest dollar to give you a clean, readable estimate.

We are currently rolling out this new AI-powered pricing system across the entire PopGrinder database.

Color status next to estimated values:
Green: high confidence — based on at least 3 recent sold transactions (within 60 days).
Orange: medium confidence — based on older or limited sold data, or on active marketplace listings (within 120 days).
Red: low confidence — based on stale listing data (older than 120 days). Take this estimate with a grain of salt.
Price updates run continuously and are prioritized by data availability and item activity. Our goal is to progressively move toward daily price updates and more consistent daily market data coverage wherever possible. This migration is already in progress, but it will take time to extend the new system across the entire catalog, so some items will improve sooner than others during the rollout.
USD, GBP, and EUR values are regional estimates, not direct currency conversions. Each value is calculated from marketplace data relevant to that region (US, UK, and EU), so differences are expected.
You can add up to 10 autographed Funkos or other custom items to your collection for free. To remove these limits and add as many custom items as you like, you’ll need to subscribe to the PopGrinder PRO plan.
To add non-Funko items to your collection, use the custom item feature. With the free plan, you can add up to 10 custom items. For unlimited custom items, consider upgrading to the PopGrinder PRO plan.
Yes. Our goal is to keep expanding the catalog over time, but each new product line requires data modeling, validation, and quality checks before release.
For free users, the limit is 1,500 items per folder with a maximum of 20 folders, including both collection and wishlist. You can add an unlimited number of items within each folder. However, with the PopGrinder PRO plan, you can create up to 60 folders. Additionally, Pro users can add an unlimited number of custom items.
That number counts the Funkos in the folder we could not put a price on, and it is a statement about our data rather than about your collection.

A folder showing €417 (-7) holds 7 Funkos that have not sold recently enough for us to estimate a value, so they are left out of the €417 rather than counted as zero — adding them at zero would quietly understate what your folder is worth.

Tap the value in the app and it will tell you the same thing, with the numbers for that folder.

It is not permanent: as soon as enough sales appear for one of those items, it gets a price and moves into the total on its own. Custom items you created without a purchase price stay in this group by design, since there is no market for us to look at.
When recent sold data is limited, PopGrinder progressively widens its search window (up to 120 days) to find enough transactions. If no sales are found at all, the system falls back to active listing prices. In either case, the confidence color (Green / Orange / Red) lets you know how reliable the estimate is. As more marketplace data becomes available and we continue training our AI models, estimates for these items will improve over time.
We are rolling out a major price bot upgrade across PopGrinder. As items move to the new pricing pipeline, estimates may change because the system is using stronger sold-data prioritization, better outlier filtering, improved variant matching, and updated confidence rules.
Yes. We are continuously training and refining the AI models that support pricing, matching, and filtering. This is ongoing work, and improvements are released gradually as we migrate more parts of the catalog and supporting systems to the new stack.
The PopGrinder PRO plan offers several benefits:
- More Folders: Pro users can enjoy up to 60 folders.
- Unlimited Items in Folders: Pro users can add an unlimited number of items within each folder.
- Unlimited Custom Items: Pro users can add an unlimited number of custom items to their collection.
- Export to CSV: Pro users can export their folders as CSV files for easy data management.
- Pro Themes: Pro users can unlock and use premium themes.
- Banner Removal: Pro users will not see any banners within the app.
Try searching with fewer keywords (for example, character name + number). If the item is still missing, it may not be indexed yet and can be added in future catalog updates.
Yes. PopGrinder includes barcode scanning to quickly search and open matching items when a UPC is available. If a barcode is not recognized, try searching by character name and number.
Collection folders are ideal for items you already own, while Wishlist folders help track items you want to buy. You can move items between folders at any time.
Yes. You can generate and share a link for a folder so other people can view your list. Shared pages are useful for trades, conventions, and gift planning.
Yes. CSV export is available with PopGrinder PRO and lets you download folder content for backup, analysis, or personal reporting.
Search supports text queries and sorting/filters to help narrow results by product attributes. For best results, start broad and then refine with filters.
Yes. Use the same PopGrinder account to keep folders and settings aligned across devices. If data appears outdated, refresh the app and verify you are logged into the correct account.
