How We Value

How we estimate Funko Pop values

Every estimated value on PopGrinder comes from an AI-powered pricing engine that reads real marketplace data — prioritizing actual sold prices — and runs it through a multi-step pipeline to produce a single, readable figure per item in USD, GBP and EUR.

How the estimate is built

  1. 1

    Smart data selection

The engine prioritizes actual sold prices over asking prices. It searches recent sales first (the last 30 days) and only widens the window — or falls back to active listings — when sold data is scarce.

  2. 2

    AI-powered filtering

Our models detect and remove outlier prices, and filter out listings for damaged, autographed, digital, and multi-pack items. They also identify the correct variant (e.g. common vs. Chase, exclusive vs. standard) so the estimate reflects the right item.

  3. 3

    Recency weighting

Recent transactions count more than older ones — a sale from yesterday matters more than one from three months ago.

  4. 4

    Cluster analysis

The engine identifies the core price cluster and discards prices that belong to a different variant, so a Chase sale never inflates a common figure.

  5. 5

    Final calculation

A weighted average of the surviving cluster is rounded to the nearest dollar, giving a clean, readable estimate.

What the color next to a value means

Each estimate carries a confidence color so you always know how reliable it is.

Green — high confidence

Based on at least 3 recent sold transactions (within 60 days).

Orange — medium confidence

Based on older or limited sold data, or on active marketplace listings (within 120 days).

Red — low confidence

Based on stale listing data (older than 120 days). Take the estimate with a grain of salt.

Good to know

  • Estimates, not fixed prices. Values are estimates from real market data and change as the market moves — they are not appraisals or offers to buy or sell.
  • Regional, not converted. USD, GBP and EUR are each calculated from data relevant to that region (US, UK, EU), so they are not direct currency conversions.
  • Always improving. The AI pricing system is rolling out gradually across the catalog; some items gain daily-grade coverage before others while the migration continues.
